Meet Ms. Dawana Conethan: Building a Culture of Excellence
Dear Stockbridge High School Community,
It is both an honor and a privilege to join Stockbridge High School as an Assistant Principal and become a member of the Tiger Family. I am excited to work alongside our outstanding students, dedicated staff, supportive families, and community partners as we continue building a culture of excellence where every student is encouraged to achieve their highest potential.
As an educator, I believe that every student deserves access to a high-quality education in a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. My commitment is to foster academic excellence while helping students develop the confidence, character, and leadership skills necessary to succeed in school and beyond. By building meaningful relationships with students, families, and staff, we can create an environment where all learners feel valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.
My journey in education began as a paraprofessional, where I had the privilege of learning from exceptional educators who inspired my passion for teaching and leadership. That foundation prepared me to become a Social Studies teacher with the New York City Board of Education, where I developed a deep appreciation for engaging students through meaningful instruction and high expectations. Since relocating to Georgia in 2007, I have continued to grow professionally by serving in several leadership capacities, including Social Studies Department Chairperson, Grade Level Coordinator, and Faculty Leadership Team member. These experiences have strengthened my belief in collaborative leadership, continuous improvement, and the importance of supporting both students and educators.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Secondary Education from Queens College, City University of New York, and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to lifelong learning and to implementing instructional practices that promote student achievement, positive school culture, and equitable opportunities for success.
As a proud member of the Henry County community, I am especially grateful for the opportunity to serve in my home county. It is truly rewarding to invest in the students and families of the community that I call home. I believe schools are strongest when educators, parents, and community members work together with a shared commitment to student success. I look forward to partnering with our families to ensure every Tiger has the support and encouragement needed to excel academically, socially, and emotionally.
My personal philosophy is captured in the words, "It's not Impossible, it's I'm Possible." This mindset reminds us that with determination, perseverance, and the right support, every challenge becomes an opportunity for growth. I strive to instill this belief in our students, encouraging them to embrace challenges, celebrate their accomplishments, and never lose sight of their potential.
Tiger Pride,
Ms. Dawana Conethan
